Michael Casimir is a violist with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, returning home after a season as Principal Viola of the Toronto Symphony in 2022. He studied at The Juilliard School and the Curtis Institute of Music, and has been recognized in competitions including the Sphinx Competition and the Hudson Valley String Competition.
An active educator, Michael has held faculty positions at the Heifetz Institute, Luzerne Music Center, and Greenwood Music Camp, and previously served as Orchestra Director at Lindenwood University. He has been featured in Forbes for his work helping younger generations connect with classical music, and presented a talk at Classical: NEXT in Budapest on technology in classical music pedagogy.
His playing can be heard on soundtracks including Disney’s The Lion King (2019) and Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021). He recently gave a solo recital at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
